Lagos Nigeria in Darkness

June 24, 2009

The Government owned South African Broadcasting Corporation broadcast this report early Tuesday morning June 23, 2009.

It reported Nigeria as the biggest African Producer of crude oil and the 6th largest in the world.  Corruption, maladministration and lack of forward planning were given as the reasons for a near total collapse in electricity supplies.

It maybe needs to be added that the News Vendor, South African Broadcasting Corporation [SABC for short] is currently having internal turmoil for which large-scale corruption; nepotism, favoritism and lack of forward planning are given as the reasons.

The Board has accumulated a debt of billions that they don’t seem able to pay; senior Board Members started resigning en masse a few weeks ago and the remainder of the Board was to appear before a Parliamentary Committee Hearing last night to explain.

The SABC represents the bulk of all News distribution in South Africa and abroad.  An “impregnable steel” set of laws prevents participation by Private Enterprise in News dissemination to leave the SABC with a virtual monopoly in News and broadcasting.  Board Members are Government appointed, which means the ANC can choose in view of their virtual two thirds majority in the National Government.

South Africa’s Rape Crisis: 1 in 4 Men Admit

June 23, 2009

I implore you, please read this Time report:

South Africa’s Rape Crisis: 1 in 4 Men Say They’ve Done It

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1906000,00.html

But, though I give kudos’ to Time for reporting on the epidemic, the article remains superficial.  It hardly scratches the surface.

South African Authorities still control what news is made public.  The Media are strictly controlled, browbeaten and blackmailed to get them to report as little as possible.  Reporters are allowed to publish individual cases but no reporting is allowed on a discernable pattern in this horrendous crime wave.

The Time Report doesn’t cover half of the story.  The other more than half that may influence the World to act is hidden from scrutiny.

US Senate apology for Slavery

June 21, 2009

Report in the UK Telegraph:

“President Barack Obama has praised a “historic” resolution passed by the Senate apologizing for the “fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery”.

The Street where you live

June 21, 2009

Who remembers the old song?  The street where you live …. People walking by …. Saying how do you do …. What a wonderful world ….

I shall make special mention of the first one who can give me all the words.  Who wrote it?  When?  Who sang it the first time?

But that is not the point I want to discuss today.  I want to know who still lives in that old street where you took your first steps, where you first went to school, who walked by saying how do you do?  Do you still know them?

If you moved away do you go back there sometimes?  Is it still the same?  Have you taken your children to show them where Grandpa and Grandma lived?  Have you heard Peter Sellers in his old song “Setting fire to the policeman?”  Did you do things like that in the street where you lived as a child?

I shall tell you my story in another Post sometime.  Let the memories come alive.  Be nostalgic if you want!  Why not?

More prattle from Joe. More of the same absence of policy from Obama

June 19, 2009

So Joe is back:

Home

http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2009/06/16/home/

By Joe Klein

So I see Joe is telling us how marvelous everybody in Iran is and that “They deserve a far better government than the one they have.”

I asked him in a comment in that Post to: “Please tell us how you and the President are going to go about giving them that Government.”  And this is what we get:

Joe Klein: What I Saw at the Revolution

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1905331,00.html?xid=newsletter-daily

Supporters of the Iranian President gather in Tehran’s Vali Asr Square to celebrate his re-election

Please take note of the word Revolution [Joe’s choice] in his own headline.

Joe, if you had listened you would have heard us telling you this for the last thirty years.  And we tried to get it into your head during
Election 2008 but you were in love with Obama so you were deaf and blind I suppose.  It’s a hellhole of dissent and revolution that you have in Iran, Joe.  It has always been like that and we don’t see it changing.  Not ever, or never Joe.

Do prattle on Joe.  Amuse yourself.  America will sort the mess out when you and Obama are footnotes in American History.

Obama, victorious in Italy, eyes Europe – a parody

June 18, 2009

It was a resounding victory for Obama.  Italy defeated!  Read all the details, the jubilation and the triumph by spokesperson Michael Scherer.  Obama supporters for once, though momentarily only, forgot about Bush, McCain, and Palin et al.  See:

The Berlusconi Thing Comes To The White House

http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2009/06/15/the-berlusconi-thing-comes-to-the-white-house/

A defeated Berlusconi has been summoned to the White House to be informed of his fate.  But that is not all!  The same spokesperson announced a simultaneous [hard on the heels] diplomatic Obama Victory in Iran.  Carter 1979, 911 and all problems between Iran and America before and since have been caused by Bush, McCain, and Palin et al and is now something of the past.  Tehran made peace with Barack’s America and rejoins the family of Nations.  Their Election upheavals have nothing to do with America; it’s an internal Iran affair.  See:

With so much success in a matter of days President Obama admonished some critics and singled out The Media and French First Lady Sarkozy.

He has this for the media:

And he minced no words in a curt admonishment to President Sarkozy to caution his wife French First Lady Carla to watch her facial expressions when photographed with First Lady Michelle:

With the President of the New World Order now firmly in charge, Europe must brace for invasion.  It’s only a matter of Time and Tippecanoe and Tyler too.

I wish to remind you folks that the keyword in this Post is the last word in the headline.  It is Parody.  That is what this Post is all about; it goes nicely with the kind of Journalism presented by the Time Rag.

If this be Journalism

June 16, 2009

Poor young man, not even five months in the White House and he has to cope with children running foreign affairs at Time Warner who are supposed to build his Foreign Credentials.  He won’t need enemies in Europe after this.

You don’t use language like this at Berlusconi and get away with it, not in Europe.  And now they lament their lack of influence in Iran.  What did they expect?

First dance
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama dance together at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball as Beyoncé Knowles, right, looks on

Obama’s handlers will have to learn that if you start a war with the old hands in Europe you have to expect them throwing everything back at you.  They are not President Bush and they owe no allegiances to a junior politician from Chicago.

Skin color, race and racism. And the Truth

June 16, 2009

Much has been said of the evil of racism, and most, or all of it, is blamed on race or skin color.

Before I tell you it is nonsense [and hence start a big argument] let me first add that many of the ills and disagreements between people have also often been blamed on the two “other evils” of religion and/or cultural differences.  That is also nonsense.

I won’t be long tonight, so I shall only repeat what I have said time and again and what I have believed for my entire adult life and still do.  Race, skin color, religion or culture should not to be blamed for any of the ills of the World.  I am on record that I believe that the vast majority of all people [I will say as high as 95 percent] of all races [skin colors], religions and cultural backgrounds have one common agreement.  If you leave them alone and keep politics out of it they all just want to work to earn a living for themselves and their loved ones and live in peace with those with whom they share their little space on Mother Earth.

Just a few examples:

If race is the factor, why are the same races in Zimbabwe and Somalia [to name just a few in Africa] and in Iran, Pakistan [you go on and pick] why are they killing each other?  Why have Anglo-Saxons vied to kill each other in one war after the other?

If adherence to one religion is the cure why are so many factions in Islam fighting?  How, on the other hand, do most Christian Churches today accept that there is more than one Christian philosophy?

If culture is the dividing factor why do so many travelers rave about the marvels of new cultures they have discovered on the last trip aboard and even try to import some of it into their societies?  Shucks, I need not tell you what some folks learn to eat in strange new places.

Let me give you the answer and then you can all have a go at me.

There is no money in peace, see.  There is no news in peace.  Hollywood and the big Media will die if there is no war or strife.  News and money need controversy to thrive.  And, of course [if you miss this one you are dumb] arms manufacturers [its all about money] need wars to sell their dirt; if there is no war they must make one.

I am nearly finished Folks.  If you look closely at every war, every fight about culture, race or religion, you will find a politician, someone from the Media or a bum who cannot otherwise attain power, stirring in one of these sensitive “causes” and blame it for the war, or for racism, or for anything they want to in order to get what they want.

Solution: ban the Media, hang every politician [and every two-bit troll and troublemaker] and lock up your daughters and your wife.

 Comments please.

More of the same and no change in sight

June 15, 2009

There is a somber atmosphere at CNN/Time Warner/Swampland tonight.

They have had such high hopes for an International President to prove that all peoples of the World are the same; they have hoped for one race, one genome, one grand design and for ONE purpose in the entire New World order when they wrote:

President Obama: At Home Abroad

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1890254,00.html?iid=sphere-inline-sidebar

They were sure hoping that their glory would be manifested for the entire World to observe and honor their King.  Unfortunately it turned out Obama was more at home ABROAD that at home AT HOME and the grumblings started.

Then the silly China!  So brash, so obstructionist, working with Sarah Palin for the next campaign to fake an image of a Time Cover in China; it was so vile; it was terrible.  See:

ObaMao on the (Fake) Cover of TIME

http://china.blogs.time.com/2009/06/11/obamao-on-the-fake-cover-of-time/

And they were in the darkest hole of doom and gloom when word came that there is trouble in Iran.  You must read the frantic concern amongst their Believers in the following Blog:

View From Tehran

http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2009/06/14/view-from-tehran/

In fact, it looks gloomier by the hour.  Joe Klein, the Great Joe Klein, the Greatest Joe Klein of All Time, has not reported in from Tehran over the past weekend.  Spare a thought for Time Warner/CNN/Swampland tonight no matter what you might think of their brand of negative journalism.

The Stella Awards

June 14, 2009

Courtesy of my email friend

It’s time again for the annual “Stella Awards”!

For those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named after 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on her self and successfully sued the McDonald’s in New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. You remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it between her knees while she was driving. Who would ever think one could get burned doing that, right?

That’s right; these are awards for the most outlandish lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S. You know, the kinds of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your head scratchier handy.

Here are the Stella’s for the past year:

7TH PLACE:

Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The storeowners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son.

6TH PLACE:

Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles, California won $74,000 plus medical
expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently didn’t notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbor’s hubcaps.

Go ahead; grab your head scratchier.

5TH PLACE:

Terrence Dickson, of Bristol, Pennsylvania, who was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open. Worse, he couldn’t re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut.  Forced to sit for eight, count ‘em; EIGHT, days on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner’s insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish.

Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have this kind of anguish.

Keep scratching. There are more…

4TH PLACE:

Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella’s when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbor’s beagle – even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner’s fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.

Grrrrr .. Scratch, scratch.

3RD PLACE:

Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a
Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument. What ever happened to people being responsible for their own actions?

Scratch, scratch, and scratch. Hang in there; there are only two more Stella’s to go…

2ND PLACE:

Kara Walton, of Claymont, Delaware sued the owner of a nightclub in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000….oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.

1ST PLACE: (May I have a fanfare played on 50 kazoos please)

This year’s runaway First Place Stella Award winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago moterhome. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver’s seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich.  Not surprisingly, the moterhome left the freeway, crashed and overturned.

Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner’s manual that she couldn’t actually leave the driver’s seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down, $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just incase Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a moterhome.
