This Post is for your convenience and mine. I need a prolonged break from Blogging while I take a trip down memory lane and you may leave any message on any topic as a comment. If you want me to read something please leave the link to it in your comment. That’s why I call it an Open Mailbox.
It is something that I have to do and I just need to get away from things of everyday life and it may take some time. There won’t be any new Posts from me during this time but I will probably jot down some memories in the other Post that I have placed just before this one.
Thank you to all those who understand; you are friends. I will check in on occasion.
November 14, 2010 at 12:23 pm |
Ike, don’t get too far away. :^)
November 14, 2010 at 10:41 pm |
Thanks Cheech
No, I won’t stray too far. I have now finally closed the door on all my UK Blogging; in the end it was easy. I discovered that the lure has gone; it was like new found Freedom and I cut the umbilical cord. I didn’t bother to advise them and won’t do it at all. That is a relief; the UK is gone; it is a lost empire heading down the tubes.
But I am not closing down at WordPress. I just need some solid time with no interruptions in my personal life. Yesterday I went over to the little house along the canal in Clanwilliam for the first time since 1988 and looked at where I come from. It was like talking to old Grandpaw. I have been assisting my Sil with her affairs after young Boetie died but it is dragging. At Grandpa’s place where we cut our names in the bark of the big eucalyptus trees when we were ten years old [sixty years came rushing through me] and it was almost like Grandpaw holding my hand, like he was telling me that they miss Boetie too.
I will be back as soon as I can.
Oh PS: remind me to tell you later. I heard that the BRIC countries have just increased to five with the addition of South Africa. Maybe they will now be called BRICS for plural. It is great jubilation by some on this side but not by all. Ask, and I shall tell. Got to go now.
Leave your notes here. I shall need them when I pop in.
November 15, 2010 at 12:02 am |
Cheech
You may of course, now that I think about it, place a Post on our BRICS status anywhere you wish. It should increase your exposure and it will be interesting to see the English in MyT and that other place that you support. I decided to leave that as well.
November 14, 2010 at 6:26 pm |
Well, THAT’S a show-stopper! What’re you going to follow it with?
November 14, 2010 at 10:42 pm |
Nolanimrod
It was not written as a Showstopper and I will heed your advice. I just need some time. See note to Cheech above. Time has been rushing past me and I was lagging behind with things that I should not have neglected.
But I managed to clear the UK Blogging hurdle for good. Do prompt me in here for anything important on your side. I was just getting to enjoy the dialogue in you Posts and will miss it. Maybe I shall drop in now and then.
I will be travelling a bit but my laptop with remote wireless Internet connection will be with me.
Have you ever felt the need to find out where you are from in order to decide where you are going to? I am trying to work it out.
November 14, 2010 at 11:09 pm |
Good luck.
November 14, 2010 at 11:30 pm |
Thanks Nolanimrod
I have decided to put your other email in here too because I like to keep things together and that is one reason why I opened the Mailbox Post; it will tell me at a glance in one place what is happening. I may even chick some anecdotes in here.
You emailed me:
“You might want to think hard about Georgia
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11753933”
This is the sort of thing that I meant in my reply to Cheech on the local jubilation about our BRICS status. I heard the radio broadcast about this incident because a foreign visitor is involved this time. A similar incident about locals or an old couple both killed on their farm in the outlying districts may happen tonight but it won’t be International News. Sick
November 16, 2010 at 8:28 pm |
Ike, I’m forwarding the news stories you sent me, to my daughter. I hope she pays attention to them.
November 16, 2010 at 11:31 pm |
Cheech
It’s good idea. I heard over the news at six last night that a suspect has been arrested but informing the public that no further information will be provided.
November 17, 2010 at 1:52 am |
Ike, I share Cheech’s sentiments.
Anyway, there is a recent article of mine that I thought you might be interested in, the one I call Daughter of the Confederacy. Sorry, it doesn’t have a full link yet but you will find it straight under the headline piece on taxation http://anatheimp.blogspot.com I’m making good progress with Andersonville, a truly excellent piece of writing. Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention.
November 17, 2010 at 2:34 am |
Thanks Anastasia
I so appreciate you coming in here; it is a kind of hiding place for me right now.
But I found your link and “fast-read” it but will do it thoroughly during the day; it looked impressive. I also saw the one on Gone with Wind and will do same.
Take your time on Andersonville and see what else you can locate about an organization called “The daughters of the Confederacy” in the meantime. I shall explain later. But pay special attention to Nathan Dreyfoos [the spelling is from memory] – it blew my mind.
You may use this Post whenever as you have just done but I shall also reply in your own Posts on the individual topics. I appreciate your interest.
November 17, 2010 at 10:49 am |
Good luck to you on your break, Ike. I also have taken an extended break from blogging and have squeezed a lot of talking and reading as a result. So, you enjoy your memories and come back refreshed.
Jamie.
November 17, 2010 at 11:57 am |
Thanks Jamie
Older folks need a break every now and then. I won’t stay away forever though and hope you will return with me.
Stay well and take care.
November 17, 2010 at 3:36 pm |
Hi Ike, Hope you are enjoying your break. I took some time this weekend to myself but there is so much going on here in the States that needs to be exposed that I could not rest too long.
Thought I’d share one of our hot button issues with you.

Thank you Lady BD
It is so nice to see you.
I did almost nothing on Blogging for a few days end of last week but I am reading some Blogs such as in your Site of course, and saw the two Posts that you mention in your links. I will drop some comments off again soon but I will have to reduce my activities.
Keep well and bless you, my sister.
November 18, 2010 at 4:23 pm
Understandable. I do pray that all is well with you Ike. Please do take care of yourself. We do look forward to your memories and views.
November 18, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Thank you, Denise. I am OK but I suppose I am not as tough as I thought I was. But I am OK. Thanks.
November 19, 2010 at 10:55 pm |
Ike, Are you keeping up with the “TSA vs Americans” war that is raging at the moment?
November 19, 2010 at 11:05 pm |
Yeah Cheech
It’s impossible not to see it or to avoid it because it is in every Blog.
But please don’t laugh if I tell you that I can’t work out what the letters TSA stand for. Do let me know. I do know it is about body searches and scanning and folks are really riled up.
You seem to be in right now; push a reply off soon as you can.
November 20, 2010 at 9:35 pm |
Ike, it’s: Transportation Security Administration: an agency established in 2001 to safeguard United States transportation systems and insure safe air travel
November 21, 2010 at 1:06 am |
Thanks Cheech
Well now that I know that I understand some of the hullabaloo but also that it is not going to solve the problem.
Crime, terrorism and criminal behavior can only be controlled by the severe punishment of the criminal; severe crime requires the removal of the criminal from Society/
You may read Elcampeador on this matter:
http://oforchristsakes.wordpress.com/2010/11/20/a-great-alternative-to-body-scanners-and-the-idiotic-feel-ups-courtesy-a-friend/
It’s maybe a bit of satire, but I don’t know how far searching people at the airports will get you. “Crime does no harm” because it is the criminal that does crime. You are wasting time trying to eradicate the crime; eradicate the criminal and you won’t have crime.
Charlie Rangel was a good opportunity to put that into effect but it went a-begging.
November 22, 2010 at 6:43 am |
Ike, I was just checking in to say hello. My understanding is that TSA either stands for Terrorists Stay Away or The Stupidity Association. I think they should change the acronym to NCTNW (Never Caught a Terrorist and Never Will).
November 22, 2010 at 7:26 am |
Thanks Bob
Humor is always good; it helps a lot in any predicament and it is the one thing which The One can’t handle particularly if you add a little ridicule.
I have a more serious note for you in your most recent Post sometime today. My time is little right now but I make time to read in between.
Keep going at it.
November 22, 2010 at 2:54 pm |
Hi there Ike, Thursday is Thanksgiving Day here in the USA. Therefore, this is a huge week for travel that promises to be a doozy here with all the brouhaha over the TSA full body scanners and enhancement patdowns.
Since I am not cooking, I will reserve Wednesday afternoon for my blogs noting the injustices as they unfurl.
In any event, I thought that you would get a kick out of this video. Humor always helps. Enjoy.
November 22, 2010 at 3:48 pm |
Hi Lady BD
Thanks for reminding me; it was in my mind but I had not given the extra travelling a thought. I want to do some comments on the TSA nonsense [as if it will solve the problem] but I have a lot on my plate with family matters and I am still undecided about my Blogging future.
Whatever, it has been worth meeting you and a few others which is the reason why I won’t just up and go.
Do enjoy Thanksgiving and have fun. Love you lots.
November 22, 2010 at 3:53 pm |
Lady BD
PS and BTW [smile] I almost forgot about the video. I did comment in your Post about it; it is particularly funny that the Japanese saw the funny side of it and joked about the stupidity.

Obama at Heaven’s Gate.
Having arrived at Heaven’s Gates, Barack meets a bearded man. ‘Are you Mohammed?’ he asks.
‘No, my son; I am Peter. Mohammed is higher up…’ Peter then points to a ladder that rises into the clouds.
Delighted Mohammed should be higher than Peter, Obama climbs the ladder in great strides; through the clouds coming to a room where he meets another bearded man . He asks again, ‘Are you Mohammed?’
‘No, I am Moses. Mohammed is higher still ..’
Exhausted, but with a heart full of joy, he climbs the ladder yet again; discovering an even larger room where he meets another bearded man. Full of hope, he asks again, ‘Are you Mohammed?”
No, I am Jesus . . . You will find Mohammed higher up . ‘
Mohammed higher than Jesus! Man! Obama can hardly contain his delight and climbs and climbs, ever higher .
Once again, he reaches a larger room where he meets a man with a beard and repeats his question: ‘Are you Mohammed?’ he gasps, as he is, by now, totally out of breath from all his climbing .
‘No, my son . . . . I am Almighty God. But, you look exhausted. Would you like a cup of coffee?
”Yes! Please, my Lord.’
God looks behind him, claps his hands and yells out: ‘Yo, Mohammed – – two coffees!’
Keep your trust in God; your government has failed you miserably.
December 5, 2010 at 5:19 pm |
Cheech
I don’t know about this one but I agree with the last line “Keep your trust in God; your government has failed you miserably.”
December 7, 2010 at 4:39 pm |
Excellent Cheech, I really liked this. Sent to everyone I know who hails Obama, prays to Obama and has made Obama their prophet. I might ad, many of whom consider themselves devout Christians.
December 7, 2010 at 5:53 pm
Thank you Lady BD
I am pleased that you like it. Are you feeling better already? You must take care.
January 2, 2011 at 7:10 am |
Dear OBM,
I’d be less likely to suspect you were having us all on had not Sodom and Gomorrah not appeared in the same email.
January 2, 2011 at 9:10 am |
Nolanimrod
I have one blind eye but I still have my sense of humor. Sodom and Gomorra are the names we old ones have given to the twin cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria [in that order] to play the fool with the obsession by Government to re-write History by renaming cities and towns that we, the hateful white Settlers had given to the places we had built. Otherwise my Gmail was factual.
January 2, 2011 at 11:47 am |
Hello Ike, If I understand you, you want links and anything else that can be sent as files, to come here?
January 2, 2011 at 1:32 pm |
Yes Cheech
It will help me a lot. That long piece you emailed yesterday with how it’s going with America. I have converted it to a Word file in MSWord. I you can do it before you even send it off, some much better. The main thing is that I would handle all permanent of things worth keeping in WordPress and email just for chatting with no further action of reply.
I have never been a computer expert but get around WordPress real fine now. As incentive to you I will give you credit for anything that I convert to a Post and introduce you around my circle of supporters by acknowledging you as source WHEN you want to.

Thanks Cheech
This is exactly what I would like to achieve. Thanks for the link and for sending it here. You are a star!
January 8, 2011 at 9:33 am |
Ike, I’ve pulled out of the two Google forums I belonged to.
I don’t have time enough as it is. plus I believe poc’s was dying anyway.
January 8, 2011 at 10:32 am |
Hi Cheech
We all have too much to do to waste it on silly things; and I have the eye to consider too.
There is more nonsense than sense on the Internet and I am going through an adjustment period right now. But there are good aspects too; think about it. We met; isn’t that wonderful? And I have made some friends though it’s only a few.
I am about two years older than you; so you have to stick with me for another ten at least.
It is always nice to know that you read me all the way over yonder in Iowa.
January 8, 2011 at 10:35 am |
Hi Cheech
I forgot to mention; the other bunch that you referred to is just too much for me. I have a good vocabulary but I don’t enjoy public profanity.
January 9, 2011 at 1:52 am |
Hi Nolanimrod and Cheech
This is another good example why I appreciate it if my friends send links and short notes into here of special events that can be used in future.
The Nolanimrod as he calls himself sometimes passed this link onto me a while back
http://takimag.com/article/the_virtue_of_selective_mourning
It is a masterful Post that I am going to refer to in a future Post. I am going through a period of reflection right now with my eye situation and started selective filing and archiving of special material and links; some I even convert to MSWord documents that I can work on off-line while getting my thoughts together. I also save this Post at regular intervals for that same purpose; it all helps to do as much work as I can off-line and that greatly helps with the eye problem.
Blogs die every day because of many reasons. I want to get away from the filth, profanity, “religion hate promotion” and the “normal pure nonsense” that are at the base of some “Blog Efforts” and do something that is worthy of the effort.
You mentioned another dying Blog. MyT and Bearsy’s will go the same way for the same reason; there is no base for their existence.
You should start a WordPress Blog BTW.
Thanks for the link Nolanimrod. We will do it and create a little place for us in Blogosphere. But we will do it our way by helping each other.
January 9, 2011 at 10:26 am |
Ike, I believe there is a big story behind this event, but it’s being hushed up by everyone, See:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12109530
It is so strange how soon it was suddenly passed by by all news outlets.
January 9, 2011 at 1:30 pm |
Hi Cheech
Thanks ole mate. I shall check on it. I really appreciate receiving the link. Do go well.
January 12, 2011 at 2:57 am
Ike, I wrote a post earlier that I posted but then a few hours later, I retrieved the post and left it in draft mode. It surrounds the death of John Wheeler, Tucson and the latest event. See below:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2011/01/10/2011-01-10_ashley_turton_wife_of_white_house_liaison_daniel_turton_found_dead_in_burning_ca.html
I will hold on to the draft for a while longer before deciding what to do with it. Don’t want to sound like a nutcase. But I can’t help but wonder if something is going on. And yes, Cheech, there is something to the death of John Wheeler, something they are not telling us.
January 12, 2011 at 3:35 am
Hi lady BD
I think that I saw your Post. Everybody is running it and I commented in some but the Wheeler case is still quiet [wrapped in mystery and swept under the rug it seems like] but I have not seen the new one in your link about the White House aide story. I will read it now. Thanks for passing it on.
It’s a sad way for America to start the New Year but it also signals that a decisive year is in the making for the Country.
January 9, 2011 at 1:27 pm |
John
I Googled for ‘Google Reader’ and the first choice at the top of the page gave me:
http://www.google.com/reader/view/?utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-ww-ww-bk&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=google+reader#overview-page
Boom and Voila, there were all Posts and some of John Derbyshire. I left a comment in one for starters but have some questions:
Is there a direct shortcut to the Reader?
It is not the full WordPress but it is easier and thus not as much stress on the eye because I don’t have to go to the Main Page after every Post.
Is there perhaps another way by subscribing to your Site to get notifications of Posts aqnd Comments like in the Gmail stuff I sent to you about WordPress?
This is enough for one day. Thanks for all your patience. I have been in a bit of a state with the eye and Blogging in general but I am glad to be back with you in Geneva.
January 10, 2011 at 10:06 pm |
Nolanimrod
Shucks man, help me out again. Let us forget about all the previous email and other places; let us cover it here step by step one at a time.
I eventually reached your Site by Googling for Google reader and subscribed at every place in your Site where it said I could. Later on I found you in Google Reader and the snapshots that you had mentioned but to get to it again I have to Google for Google Reader every time and sometimes cannot get to it.
So for now simply and only; is there a short-cut way to get to your stuff in Google Reader. Can I, for instance, have it on my desktop to get there with one click? I need to reduce the surfing time for the eye. Reading a Post and the keyboard I am still OK.

Thanks for the link. I shall read it in a few minutes and let you know. You are the dear one! Meantime you must read Bob Mack’s sarcasm in my Post:

January 14, 2011 at 1:25 am
Hello Ike, Read the post-turtle post and enjoyed it immensely. I left my comments there for you to view.
January 14, 2011 at 3:42 am
Hi Lady BD
I am glad you used the word; it was the one I wanted to use but I then decided to lampoon the idiot because I didn’t want to be odd man out.
But it was repulsive in the extreme. And it seems many will let him get away with it. He just used the bereaved as if they were objects. Thanks however, for letting me know that I am not alone in my thinking.
January 13, 2011 at 9:56 pm |
Lady BD
I have no read that link. It is very apt and to the point. It should be compulsory reading at all schools in the sex education classes and by all Congress Members and Senators before voting on any future laws.
What a sad case?
January 14, 2011 at 12:05 am |
“Follow this up and keep me informed in my Open Mailbox”.
Ike, I thinkI sent you that one. I was confused that you mentioned it in the blog but didn’t elaborate on who he was.
Anyway, the wheeler story is a dead duck over here, completely overwhelmed by the incident in Arizona.
Did you get the old Pics I sent?
January 14, 2011 at 12:20 am |
Hi Cheech
Yeah, I also think that you are the one who sent it to me in the first place but I was confused by your subsequent enquiry.
I may do a Post on it but I am more interested in what the police and the DOJ are or are not going to do. A guy like Wheeler doesn’t end up in a land-fill without a covert-up.
Yes, I got your old Pics but just haven’t downloaded them yet. I will do so over the weekend.
Do join me in The Post Turtle Story
January 14, 2011 at 4:45 am |
Cheech
I have now opened and saved those Old Pics. They are lovely; thank you heaps for sharing and I have taken the liberty to send them with the gmail to Lady BD in NY City. She will enjoy them.
Don’t forget to visit her Blog. She is one of us in every way.
January 20, 2011 at 11:09 am
Ike and Cheech, thank you for the pics of Boulder Dam. They are indeed beautiful. No not beautiful, SPECTACULAR. Truly amazing it was to see this location at different points of the day and night.
As I mentioned to Ike, I could never do work on such an amazing structure. I have a problem with heights. Those who worked on the construction of Boulder Dam indeed must be commended.
Again, thank you for sharing.
Denise
January 20, 2011 at 1:12 pm
Hi Lady BD
I am pleased you received and enjoyed the Boulder Dam and Bridge slide show. Cheech has a store [the size of Central Park near you] of stuff on everything.
But I want to point you to a new Blog that I discovered from a guy visiting one of my Posts. He is a gentle serious man of impeccable character and you know what he writes on?
Visit this Post and then spend some time on the others when you have the time.

MESSAGE FROM BUCHANAN
Finally…………It is Said Publicly. I have never seen the white side explained better! Pat Buchanan had the guts to say it. It is about time.
BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to…. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??
Barack talks about new ‘ladders of opportunity’ for blacks. Let him go to Altoona And Johnstown and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for ‘deserving’ white kids…? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America’s fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

I almost missed this. Have a little Jack Daniel a’sippin whiskey for the cold.
Did you know that I am a Tennessee Squire of 25 years standing the past July?

It is nothing to laugh about but I guess that the average African is about as well informed about American Affairs as the Average American is about Africa.
I had the opportunity eight months ago to see some exam papers and the marked answer papers that the kids brought home. They know absolutely nothing because they aren’t taught anything about America or Europe in high school history. I was so amazed that I asked a small group of them whether anyone could tell me how far Russia is from China. All five said, No Sir.
Our News Media is slanted as yours but there is one major Newspaper Chain [quit large and with international affiliations] that try their best; it would be a good test to find out whether they will agree to publish Buchanan’s story.
Let me have all other links that you can find and I shall get onto it.
I trust you that the one you enclosed is authentic but can you find me more links where it has been discussed. I would like to submit it out of curiosity in finding out whether they will publish it.
I of course, don’t envision President Obama accepting a public appearance with Pat Buchanan on the issue.
Pass any links on; the more the merrier, to the same Post right here.

Thanks Cheech
I will study that too and see what I can achieve.
January 17, 2011 at 11:10 pm |
Well Cheech
I have forwarded Patrick’s letter to a local Newspaper and will keep you informed.
But I spoke to my email friend Boerseun in the Free State and he suggested:
All them 60 million would be most welcome here. They will find circumstances congenial and join an existing majority to form a virtual 96% majority once they have settled in. They don’t have to worry about living conditions; it will be standard African fare as through the centuries since they left.
In return Boerseun has a suggestion; we will give you about 2 million of Patrick’s people. We don’t need food stamps, Medicare or free housing; that we will provide for ourselves but there is a condition; that you send Obama with them on a one-way flight ticket before we move over. People are in general agreement on this point; we just don’t fancy living in the same continent as that guy.
Do let me know.
January 18, 2011 at 11:12 pm |
Ike, It would never work.
You are aware of Liberia, an African country founded by former slaves in 1847.
It didn’t work then and i don’t believe it would work now.
I’m pretty sure you are pulling my leg.
January 19, 2011 at 12:09 am |
Cheech ole Friend
Of course I know of Liberia and Tubman. I live in African ole friend and I read, smell, hear and see Africa. Of course it will never work. It has not worked here or anywhere; what on earth makes you think that it will work in America?
Now please note that I am not pulling your leg or contradicting myself. America once called themselves the Great Melting Pot and it worked well enough until Kennedy said throw all the pots together and let’s have one large pot.
You have seen the results? It had not looked very promising before Obama. Then he came and started stirring in the pot; goodness gracious me Jim; it was bad enough and did not require stirring.
But now he is on the campaign trail again; you must realize that the Tucson speech was the opening speech of his 2012 comeback campaign; all the time stirring and telling the people about little angles in heaven who will guide them with their innocent view through their innocent little eyes of politics. Read it once more Jim, but I hope that you don’t get as violently ill as I did when I read it.
When are you guys going to realize that Obama has always had his own private agenda for America?
You know what that agenda is? Well, I shall tell you anyway. To break America up; to weaken the armed forces and to destroy their morale; to create so much hate and confusion in America that nobody can govern it and then he will blame it on Bush or someone else and ask to be appointed President of the New World Order.
That is where Russia and China will step in and say: “So far, but no further.”
PS. But Of course the suggestion and the story about Boerseun in my first Comment were satirical to emphasize the point.
January 30, 2011 at 6:56 pm
Ike, the sad truth is this. Obama doesn’t have to do anything above and beyond what he is already doing to oversee the breakup of America.
Congress will do it for him.
February 1, 2011 at 1:55 pm
Yeah Cheech
That is the situation indeed; what a pity that voters [of the 57 States] allowed the man into American Politics? I am beginning to think more and more that the greatest threat faced by America of the 50 States is not Afghan or Islam, or eve socialism, but indeed the voters of America of the 57 States.
After all, how did the Congress you had until recently and how did the post turtle get on the post if it were not these voters who put them there?
January 20, 2011 at 9:06 am |
Ike, I thought you might enjoy this bit of WWII trivia.
You might enjoy this from Col D. G. Swinford, USMC, Ret and history buff. You would really have to dig deep to get this kind of ringside seat to history:
1. The first German serviceman killed in WW II was killed by the Japanese (China, 1937), the first American serviceman killed was killed by the Russians (Finland 1940); highest ranking American killed was Lt Gen Lesley McNair, killed by the US Army Air Corps. So much for allies.
2. The youngest US serviceman was 12 year old Calvin Graham, USN. He was wounded and given a Dishonorable Discharge for lying about his age. His benefits were later restored by act of Congress.
3. At the time of Pearl Harbor, the top US Navy command was called CINCUS (pronounced ‘sink us’), the shoulder patch of the US Army’s 45th Infantry Division was the Swastika, and Hitler’s private train was named ‘Amerika.’ All three were soon changed for PR purposes.
4. More US servicemen died in the Air Corps than the Marine Corps. While completing the required 30 missions, your chance of being killed was 71%.
5. Generally speaking, there was no such thing as an average fighter pilot. You were either an ace or a target. For instance, Japanese Ace Hiroyoshi Nishizawa shot down over 80 planes. He died while a passenger on a cargo plane.
6. It was a common practice on fighter planes to load every 5th round with a tracer round to aid in aiming. This was a mistake. Tracers had different ballistics so (at long range) if your tracers were hitting the target 80% of your rounds were missing. Worse yet tracers instantly told your enemy he was under fire and from which direction. Worst of all was the practice of loading a string of tracers at the end of the belt to tell you that you were out of ammo. This was definitely not something you wanted to tell the enemy. Units that stopped using tracers saw their success rate nearly double and their loss rate go down.
YOU’VE GOT TO LOVE THIS ONE……..
7. When allied armies reached the Rhine, the first thing men did was pee in it. This was pretty universal from the lowest private to Winston Churchill (who made a big show of it) and Gen. Patton (who had himself photographed in the act).
8. German Me-264 bombers were capable of bombing New York City, but they decided it wasn’t worth the effort.
9. German submarine U-120 was sunk by a malfunctioning toilet.
10. Among the first ‘Germans’ captured at Normandy were several Koreans. They had been forced to fight for the Japanese Army until they were captured by the Russians and forced to fight for the Russian Army until they were captured by the Germans and forced to fight for the German Army until they were captured by the US Army.
AND I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST….
11. Following a massive naval bombardment, 35,000 United States and Canadian troops stormed ashore at Kiska, in the Aleutian Islands. 21 troops were killed in the assault on the island. It could have been worse if there had been any Japanese on the island.
January 20, 2011 at 9:26 am |
Thanks Cheech. You’re a great guy.
January 20, 2011 at 8:48 pm |
Ike, Here is a real good WWII story.
http://www.theospark.net/2010/06/video-old-666.html
January 21, 2011 at 1:07 am |
Thanks Cheech
I shall study it in a few minutes and let you know. Have you had the time yet to look into the Coolidge Blogger?
January 23, 2011 at 12:12 pm |
Ike, you had sent the Coolidge blogger story to me a long time ago.
I have been to Mt. Rushmore many times and they have various ways of telling the story of how the work got done.
It was a time when America could do great difficult things. I’m not sure we could even get started on something similar today.
January 23, 2011 at 1:57 pm |
Yes Cheech
I remember now. That is why I referred the other guy to some of the previous stuff. Do have a read in his Posts though. He has a fresh approach to things.
Nice seeing you again.
January 23, 2011 at 7:18 pm |
Ike, you have to look at the photos of San Francisco, taken from a blimp. Outstanding!
http://home.comcast.net/~bzee1b/Zeppelin/Zeppelin.html
January 24, 2011 at 12:30 am |
Hiya Cheech
Such photos from the air are always impressive but I would rather be where I am than in a jungle like that.
Rather give me the never ending grasslands of the Dakotas, the hills of Kentucky or the Arkansas mountains and valleys with the red oaks in the late Fall and I come alive.
That’s the good life; they can have SF and CT and all the rest of the jungle.
But thanks for sharing; you must have a library like no one else full of this stuff.
January 25, 2011 at 11:40 pm |
Ike, I’m going to send you some correspondence from a guy in Tenneesee. It’s pretty long. The man’s name is Randy R. and he has a talent for making long statements that actually make sense. The only problem with his complaints is, nothing can be done to change what he believes is wrong. It’s all out of the ordinary person’s ability to correct.
Let me know what you think.
January 26, 2011 at 12:11 am |
Hi Cheech
Let it come straight in here, links and all and whatever you have. I shall be on the lookout for it. Thanks.
January 29, 2011 at 11:21 pm |
Hello Ike,
I suspect you have been following along the news out of Egypt.
I’m happy to report out president finally stopped talking about building a high speed rail system and noticed something was going on over there.
After 30 years of the US paying Mubarak to keep the place quite using any means necessary, Obama will probably call for allowing a democratic vote on any new leadership, which means there is a possibility of getting the Muslim Brotherhood into the driver’s seat. Just what we need, an unfriendly regime controlling the Suez Canal.
The price of everything is skyrocketing over here to start with, especiall y food and fuel, all of this is only going to speed it up.
February 1, 2011 at 2:07 pm |
It will take me a few days to catch up with the past week; the Gmail Inbox is overflowing; but I am rejuvenated and healthy except for the eye.
Maybe I must do a Post on the eye to inform all of you once and for all and thus save me repeating the same story in parts every now and then when it comes up.
Te Cairo news came with the story about the suicide bomb blast in Moscow. I will be interesting to see how the Cairo episode develops and what Moscow will do about their second terrorism act within a year.
You know me but I should repeat that any criticism that may appear to be negative about America in what follows in this comment is solely aimed at America of the 57 States [I still have faith in old America of the 50 States, probably because I have to; you are all we have left.] but Americans [the 57 State ones] are not only ill-informed; would wish it was only that but instead they actually live in a fool’s paradise about anything outside the States.
Let me end it here for the time being; it is a World that will become more fragmented as the 50 years’ cycle for 2010 to 2060 unfolds.
BTW, more trouble coming in Kenya; watch the News. I should Post on Children of the World to find out how many American youths know how far China is from Russia. Test them in your street. If they say that they don’t know [99 % of our ones don’t] offer them three choices; say, is it about fifty miles, 500 or 5000 miles and see what you get, guess which one and tell me.
Cheech, Ole Friend, the World doesn’t want the Democracy that 57 States America is trying to force down their throats. Obama wants and needs Anarchy; he is the kind of guy that thrives on it.
Local fuel and food prices are going skywards here too; of course OPEC wants more Revenues again; it surprises me that America remains a bystander in this; why don’t you start drilling? You will see crude oil prices tumbling when the first drill goes down.
Thanks for thinking about me.
February 1, 2011 at 2:01 pm |
This Comment is from me in recognition of and with compliments to my Friend Nimrod of NOLA who emailed it to me. When I first saw the Gmail headline I gasped momentarily, wondering what might have happened to the great Hunter of NOLA.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/8287334/Nimrod-a-sorry-saga-with-a-messy-ending.html
Having being reassured that he is OK I moved the link over to this Post and shall reply to him, but I may also do a Post on it for World Affairs.
Hey Nimrod, thanks for the link but please help my eye and I by placing such good links in this Post.
February 7, 2011 at 8:35 pm |
Hello Ike, I’m recovered and going through my E-mails, forwarding a few your way.
What a mess over in Egypt eh? The obama administration has sent so many conflicting messages that what ever comes out of it all won’t trust the US ever again.
My guess is a giant toll booth will be put on the Suez canal and the 1 1/2 billion we were paying Mubarak yearly up to now, will look like peanuts.
February 7, 2011 at 8:48 pm |
Yeah Cheech
It is a mess and getting worse by all the dirty little paws stirring in the racial Pot.
February 7, 2011 at 9:14 pm |
Hi Cheech
I thought you would enjoy this.
http://kaiology.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/reagan-centennial/
It’s from our Coolidge Blogger; he is a modest man but his work is a pleasure to behold.
February 8, 2011 at 8:08 pm |
Ike, I have cousin who lives in Simi Valley, California and you can look down on the Regan Library from his back yard. I was out there a few years ago and spend several hours at the library. Did you know there is a concrete panel out of the Berlin wall at the Regan Library?
I also went to Nixon’s library while we were there.
Did you know there is a panel of the Berlin wall at the regan library?
Did you get the pictures of Obama’s birth certificate?
February 9, 2011 at 12:09 am |
Hi Cheech
I shall try to answer all your questions.
No, I did not know about the Berlin Concrete wall panel at the Reagan library but it is a fitting memorial. Yu must get a picture for your collection.
Nixon was whatever some say a good President; why he messed in Watergate I shall never understand. He had the election in hand without it. Then he blew it; how sad?
What pictures of Obama this time? I have been almost out of things for a while.
Have you read the new Post I mentioned above? It’s a must read:
http://kaiology.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/reagan-centennial/
Lastly, I need you in another Post and left a note for you there. When you get in, drop a note and watch for my reply afterwards. I needs some of your old pictures and will tell you there as soon as I see your note.

Keep well.
February 12, 2011 at 9:42 pm |
Hello Ike, The snow is melting thanks to warm southern winds. If this keeps up we will hav had an almost 50 degree swing in temps over a 1 week period.
Have you noticed there is more unrest, this time it’s Algeria, according to the news reports.
February 13, 2011 at 12:29 am |
Cheech
It’s good the weather is improving. As far as unrest in Africa; if we should ever have two weeks running without some violence most of the “old-fashioned” religion believers will believe that the end of the World has come.
Take care.
February 15, 2011 at 8:47 pm |
Ike, did you ever get Google Earth working?
February 15, 2011 at 8:54 pm |
No Cheech
But it is not on my list of priorities right now. See my email to you in a few minutes.
February 19, 2011 at 12:08 pm |
Ike, This is a blog on the Telegraph today. I would like to see your response to it.
=====================================
From “classless society” to “post-racial society”
How the Left exchanged a noble ideal for an ignoble one.
=====================================
The Left gave up on their ideal of the “classless society” (characterised, not just by class, but by huge differences in income, wealth and opportunity), exchanging it (along with the “moral high ground” it was associated with) for that of a “raceless” or “post-racial society”, and the ideology of “One-Human-Racism”.
“One -Human-Racism” is the ideology of “colourblindness”, of “race doesn’t matter” (or even exist), of ethnic origins being of no social or political importance (especially in respect to group, e.g. national, identity), except to evil “racists” – like the Nazis, whose abhorrent racial ideology, not coincidentally, it is the exact, but equally extreme, opposite of.
In contrast to the “classless society”, the ideal of a “raceless society” is much more acceptable to those in power, wealth and privilege, since it doesn’t challenge their status. In this way, the Left were able to become part of the status quo, the establishment, themselves, thereby creating the modern “liberal-fascist” state, which together with capital dominates all western “democracies”.
Why is the ideal of a “raceless” or “post-racial”, and, by implication, “post-European” society” ignoble? Because it denies (and in respect to white people, demonises, as “racist”) the central importance of race and ethnic origins for an individual’s sense personal and group, e.g. national, identity, on the one hand, and creates an uninhibited “melting pot”, on the other, in which human ethnic and cultural diversity will dissolve and disappear, or at least, be greatly reduced.
How were we deceived into believing that the ideal of a “raceless” or “post-racial society” was a noble cause? Initially, because of a shock response and overreaction to the horrors associated with the Nazi’s criminally insane racial ideology, but also in overreaction to the unjust and inhumane state discrimination and segregation imposed by Apartheid South Africa and America’s Jim Crow laws. Embracing the opposite attitude, of “Race doesn’t matter” (at all), seemed an appropriate response, which was then opportunistically exploited (principally on the Left) by those seeking power-political advantage by claiming the “moral high ground” for themselves.
Only it wasn’t appropriate, because race and ethnic origins DO matter, for a deep and meaningful sense of personal and group, e.g. national, identity.
Humans have a tendency, as exemplified here, to swing from one extreme to the other. My hope is that by understanding what is going on, we can avoid doing that. No one in their right mind wants a return to Jim Crow, Apartheid or, least of all, Nazism, although the surest way of doing so is for the state to persist in imposing the ideologically opposite extreme. We need to find a humane and civilised way between these extremes.
How? We could make a start by talking about it.

I glanced though it briefly but It’s a long one and I need some more time to study it. I think that I would also like to have it transferred to my Post on The Evolution of Democracy where it fits in nicely.
In the meantime I want you to read a Post by Jamie MacNab. It’s in story format but deals with the same topic from another angle.
http://jamiemacnab.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/where-thoughts-of-india-lead/
Leave a comment for Jamie while I transfer your link and I will get into it.
Thanks for sharing.
February 20, 2011 at 11:52 pm |
Hello Ike, I visited Jamie’s blog, read the piece and left a comment. He’s very right you know. We don’t need every person in our societies going for a 4 year college degree.
Idle hands make for trouble. Men need to work.
February 21, 2011 at 12:28 am |
Thanks Cheech
I am glad you liked Jamie’s wisdom too; one can always rely on him to bring things down to earth and reality.

Ike, you are going to love this one.
Anjem Choudary – To lead White House protest
======================================
March 3, 2011: Anjem Choudary – To lead White House protest calling for Muslims to ‘rise up and establish Islamic state in America’:I
Call to arms: Muslim extremist Anjem Choudary will call for Sharia law to be established across the U.S.
A hardline Muslim cleric who sparked anger across the U.S. with his anti-American comments in a television interview this month is to hold a protest outside the White House.
British extremist Anjem Choudary – who once said ‘the flag of Islam will fly over the White House’ – has announced he will lead a demonstration calling on Muslims to establish the Sharia law across America.
The rally, planned for March 3, is to take place just weeks after his on-screen row with Fox News presenter Sean Hannity.
Mr Choudary, 43, called Americans ‘the biggest criminals in the world today.’
The former leader of outlawed group Islam4UK told the Daily Star ‘we expect thousands to come out and support us.’
Mr Choudary said the March rally was organised by the Islamic Thinkers society, an extremist group based in New York.
Two other British extremists, Abu Izzadeen and Sayful Islam, have also been asked to speak at the demonstration.
Izzadeen is the hate preacher who caused fury last year when he called British soldiers ‘murderers’ the day he was released from jail after a three-and-a-half year sentence for inciting terrorism.
Mr Choudary told the newspaper: ‘The event is a rally, a call for the Sharia, a call for the Muslims to rise up and establish the Islamic state in America.’

Hi Cheech
Thanks for the info.
May I put my wry smile on for today. When I first came to America you were all Americans to me. Later on I discovered there were some African Americans and at one time you had some East European Gay Tennis Player Americans too; later on you had to add Cuban Americans, Latino Americans, ….? Heck Cheech and now you have one Choudary American as well.
Do you have any old fashioned religion and gun clinging Americans left?
My heart goes out for America of the 50 States.
February 27, 2011 at 11:03 am |
Ike, don’t worry, Choudary will do us a favor by bringing the radicals among us out into the open to be identifyed and watched by the FBI.
Also, here is a very good bit of US history that you might enjoy watching.

Cheech
Guys like you will save your country. I like the spirit in your first paragraph but want to add that you should learn a little from China how to handle those guys.
It’s mid-afternoon here in a heat wave. I will look at your link when it is cool tonight.
But thanks for remembering me.
February 28, 2011 at 3:25 am |
Hi Cheech
Thanks for the link; it was a long pleasant trip down memory lane. I enjoyed the old cars; and the music gripped me by the throat.
You can send more. And thanks for posting it here. I save and archive these things and can listen when I am off line. It really helps me to relax the eye.
I find filing in Gmail cumbersome and must log on, search and surf around and that’s when the eye objects. The Post I can save and store outside of the logon stuff. I really appreciate your understanding.
March 5, 2011 at 5:45 pm |
Ike I think there are some new pics in here:

Thanks Cheech
I shall look at it in a minute.
March 14, 2011 at 3:56 pm |
Ike, Today I get to start keeping my head up a little more.
The vision is still like looking through dirty water, but according to the doctor’s office, this will be the norm for a long time.
You don’t really appreciate vision, even if it’s not the best, until you lose it completely.
March 14, 2011 at 11:17 pm |
Yeah Cheech
We accept all for granted until …………. But I shall think of you. I have come to live with mine; it is a nuisance but I have accepted that I have had a good life too.
March 20, 2011 at 9:22 pm |
Ike, Don’t miss this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Cheech
Thanks ole friend. One is hardly likely to see this often in these days. I enjoyed and archived them.
You must try and find out how one can convert them all into a slide show.
March 24, 2011 at 10:19 am |
Ike, I’m still not able to see out of the eye, but it will be okay in about 2 months.
Meanwhile, here is some real history for you!

March 24, 2011 at 12:33 pm |
Hi Cheech
Be patient with the eye and thankful that it is still there. My heart is with you because I have been through it.
Thanks for the video. I have seen others before but not this one.
March 24, 2011 at 9:17 pm |
Ike, I went to the renal Dr. today, blood pressure was up a little so they adjusted my medicine.
It’s the shits to get old.
March 25, 2011 at 3:11 am |
Hi Cheech
Well. It is an adjustment to get older but I don’t regret it. Would you have liked it to be young in this day? Not me pal, I will be pushing the bottom on 71 in August and guess you will hit 69 in July. I have no regrets about things.
Hope you are OK.
March 24, 2011 at 9:19 pm |
Ike, here is something that might interest you.
http://www.crossroad.to/Quotes/communism/alinsky.htm
March 25, 2011 at 3:12 am |
Thanks Cheech
I have read the link on Alinsky. It’s very much the usual thing but I think that you guys are making too much out of Obama being a commie, a socialist, a Muslim or just a regular piece of shit. I am beginning to think the guy is just a common shit with hoodlum manners from his upbringing.
Look it in the eye; America elected the wrong shit and now they don’t know how to get rid of the silly bastard.
March 26, 2011 at 10:38 pm |
Ike, now almost a week since our men were sent intoi Libya, Obama is going to speak to us on the subject.
It wouild be really nice if he lowered himself to answer a few questions
March 26, 2011 at 10:48 pm |
Cheech
I read something very funny yesterday; someone said he will be speaking to Congress by phone today; in the meantime everyone was trying o find a name for what is taking place in Libya; they don’t want to call it War so various descriptions are being bandied around.
D you have a bozo to live with?
March 27, 2011 at 10:27 am |
Ike, stand by for more Animal Farm Speak from Obama and his minions.
The latest is, Kinetic Military Action = War.
March 27, 2011 at 11:07 am |
Cheech
I decided to “transfer” your comment above to by Post on Libya and reply in there too.
https://ikejakson.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/the-reason-for-the-libyan-invasion/
I hope it’s OK with you; it is more relevant there for sure and I have noticed others have picked it up already.
March 31, 2011 at 7:44 pm |
There is good news. Obama has apologized to George Bush. Of course the apology had to be written By a man named Larry Elder, but I’m sure he has expressed Obama’s most intermost thoughts.
President Barack H. Obama
The White House
Dear George,
The Gulf oil spill opened my eyes.
As with Hurricane Katrina, it happened suddenly. I barked out orders. I pounded my desk. But the oil kept flowing. Worse, the nation watched it all on television and said: “Why doesn’t the President do something? Doesn’t he care?” From then on, I fully understood both the expectations and the limitations of this job.
I ran on “hope and change.” I said I would bring the sides together. The American people, I told Republicans who opposed my stimulus plan, have spoken. And “I won.”
So without any of the bipartisan support you received for your tax cuts, my stimulus passed, and I confidently predicted it would prevent unemployment from reaching 8 percent. It climbed to 10.2 percent.
Without a single Republican vote, we passed “ObamaCare.” But half of the states’ attorneys general filed suit to stop it. And a year after its passage, most Americans want it repealed.
My party lost its House majority and its Senate supermajority. Voters wanted smaller government. Turns out voters wanted to retain the “Bush tax rates” — even for the rich — which I campaigned against. Again, the American people had spoken.
The morning starts, as you know, with an intelligence briefing. My goodness, does America have enemies — hateful, violent, vicious enemies all over the world who are determined to destroy this nation! Our job is to prevent them from succeeding — all of them, all of the time.
I labeled you a cowboy, promised humility and offered enemy countries an “outstretched hand” for their “unclenched fist.” But calling the Global War on Terror an “overseas contingency operation” not only failed to deter the Islamofascists from wanting to kill us, it suggested a weakness that only strengthened their resolve.
Al-Qaida, Hezbollah, Hamas and the mullahs who run Iran, I learned, couldn’t care less that I’m a person of color, born to a Muslim father from Kenya, and who lived in Indonesia. They hate us still.
Guantanamo Bay exists for a reason. It imprisons the worst of the worst. No other country will take these terrorists, and many former detainees have returned to the fight.
Gitmo is among many of your “Bush era” terror-fighting policies that I not only retained but, in some cases, even expanded. What once seemed reckless and wrongheaded, I now see as prudent attempts to strike that difficult balance between safety and freedom.
I came into this job eight years after September 11, 2001. I cannot imagine 3,000 Americans killed on my watch. I cannot imagine polls showing that 90 percent of us anticipated another attack within 12 months of the first, perhaps with chemical or biological weapons. I can imagine how you must have blamed yourself during those long, dark days, and spent every waking hour asking, “What can I do so this never happens again?”
This brings me to the Iraq War, a mission I once called “dumb.”
Seventy-six percent of Americans, at the time, supported your decision. You obtained approval from Congress. By contrast, 47 percent support my actions in Libya, less support than for any military action taken in the last 40 years. Unlike you, I did not seek approval from Congress even though I once said the Constitution requires it.
Thanks to the Iraq War, Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi surrendered his WMD. He poses no direct threat to America and cannot use these terrible weapons on his own people. Saddam Hussein, on the other hand, invaded his neighbors, used chemical weapons on his own people and shot at our planes patrolling the no-fly zones. All 16 of our intelligence agencies thought he possessed stockpiles of WMD, a prospect that threatened to make the 9/11 carnage look small.
I even opposed the “surge” in Iraq and predicted its failure. I now see this unpopular decision for what it was — one of the most courageous decisions ever made by any of the 43 Americans who have sat behind this desk.
I vividly recall shaking my head during the speech you made to make the case for the “dumb” war. A disapproving New York Times wrote: “President Bush sketched an expansive vision. … Mr. Bush talked about establishing a ‘free and peaceful Iraq’ that would serve as a ‘dramatic and inspiring example’ to the entire Arab and Muslim world …”
Now I understand why, in 2008, you signed National Security Presidential Directive-58, Advancing the Freedom Agenda: “To protect America, we must defeat the ideology of hatred by spreading the hope of freedom. Over the past seven years, this is exactly what the administration has done.”
It began with newly liberated Afghans and Iraqis who risked their lives by leaving their homes to vote for the first time. Your Freedom Agenda ignited the promising, historic “hope and change” we are now witnessing all throughout the Arab and Muslim world.
You were right. I was wrong. The nation — and the world — owes you a huge debt of gratitude.
Let’s do lunch and then sneak in a round of golf. The “near beer” is on me.
With respect and appreciation,
Barack
