We have two coming up next year. Let us look for others; there may be something in it, just perhaps.
The War of 1812 started two centuries ago; maybe there is a pre-cursor somewhere.
One hundred years later on April 10th, 1912 the Titanic went down on her maiden voyage that was to be a World Cruise and with that the dreams of science and man of a ship that couldn’t sink.
I shall hold thumbs for 2012. For all his knowledge and achievements mankind remains but frail and vulnerable. At this time there is much talk and shouting about New World Orders, a World Government and even one single World currency though we have not managed very well in just living with each other from one day to the next in a World that is getting smaller by the day.
Yes, 2012 will, or may, provide the impetus that we need; or it may give us time to ponder and look at the past; it will be a good time to re-think; to take stock and move with caution.

An interesting thought, sir. perhaps we should add the slave revolt in New York in 1712.

Hi neenergeobserver
Thanks for the comment and the link; it had occurred to me to go back further or add another few but then I decided to keep it short and let others contribute. And now you have done that which makes your comment so much more valuable.
2012 will be a year to remember; we are poised on the proverbial “knife’s edge” in the World; it is so with peace or relationships between nations, economics, religion and virtually all facets of our daily lives. Please note that I am not a doomsayer and that I am not referring to Armageddon’s or stuff like that; the World will change and some will have to adjust more than others.

Obviously not my night for typing. Try New York.

Hi neenergeobserver
Have I edited your comment correctly?
Content is worth more than spelling but in this case the one affected the other and I hope it’s what you meant.
Do pop in again when you see others and feel free to address anyone.

Ike, perfectly edited, thank you. and yes to cross post an answer. Nebraska is perfectly fine, Freedom started that and I like it, besides I have trouble typing my screen name, too.
I also agree, I believe 2012 will be a tipping point (or whatever simile one chooses).
I think that part of it is that communications have moved us beyond the vertical integration that industrialization required. Allowing us to go back toward the flatter agricultural society (with better living conditions) that society featured before the industrial revolution.
The ramifications, if I’m correct, are going to be interesting, at least.
I like your blog and will be reading more as I get a chance. You are, of course, welcome at mine.

Ike, I have it on good authority (a feeling in my bones) that 2012 will bring a bumper Summer with bumper crops, a benign plague that will carry away all stupid politicians while leaving the rest of us in top form, and a win for Scotland in the World Cup.
Good enough? 🙂

Hi Jamie
If your gut feeling comes true I shall go along with everything that you wish. I shall even go for the full one hundred if it all comes your way. Oh well, I won’t spoil it now; such hopes are contagious and I remember many of them….

Moving with caution is not something that happens very often in DC. Unless, of course, it has to do with approving oil leases, pipelines, refineries, reviving the tax code and entitlement programs–anything that could actually have a postive impact on our nation–then they move with so much caution we find ourselves at a standstill.
I had never looked at the “12”s before. Interesting.

Thanks Freedom by the way
I first visited your Site after Lady BD of pumabydesign had placed a link to you in one of her Posts. Thanks for dropping by my humble little Blog.
You are much more prolific in Posts than I because I have an eye impediment that slows me down.
The two 12’s came fortuitously as I was looking for something but I must admit that I often look at the history of colonialism [it’s a hobby with a dream] in periods of fifty years; and they start on the years beginning with 10 and 60, like in 1810 – 1860, 1860 – 1910 etc. It’s not to be done with history as a student should because the linear way may distort some things.
However, it works for me because I don’t have to be restricted by convention. I have looked around your Blog and will return. If you are interested in my philosophy just Google “Ike Jakson Cycles and Circles of History” and you will find some leads.
I have come up with some amazing things looking in “through the circles” and see 1960 – 2010 as a clearly different one from ever before and I have often posted on the 2010 onwards as a new one.
Let me not bore you right away. I appreciate your visit. But I do agree with you on Washington. Unfortunately it is however, identical to London, Paris … South Africa; politics in the entire Anglo-Saxon World is riddled with corruption, greed en self-interest.

It’s an interesting concept, that I’ve never seen used. History, especially military, is my hobby and connecting things is one of the things I do fairly well. A good thing, it’s part of my job.
As many of my neighbors say, “Vaya con Dios”.

Thanks Nebraska
Read this one for starters when you get a minute.

Back a while later. Vaya con Dios.

Thank you Nebraska
I rather like that and hope it doesn’t offend.
I have read your comment but find myself in a rush again [and the eye] but mainly because of what I interpreted from the first short read. You raise an interesting point about the industrial revolution that I want to mull over some more.
My problem with my eye is a physical impediment but I am learning to live with it. I hope the reason you find it difficult to type that long name is not for the same reason.
And I like what you say from what I gleamed from my first visit. I saw and outdoorsman who can Blog and analyze a problem and like that.

Ike, I just read the cyles post you gave in your comment above. It reminded me of when America as up in arms over Apartied in South Africa and my husband said, “They are in their infancy. They will work it out without outside interference, just like America did.” I think in today’s globalist world, we don’t let nations take their natural course. I’m not saying the world shouldn’t step in when there is genocide, but perhaps we should observe more before stepping in to affect the outcome. (We know how well our meddling worked in Iran). And frankly, I don’t see happy endings for Egypt, Syria or Libya.

Thanks Freedom
I can only Ditto ditto a thousand times. The World must stay out of the affairs of each other.
Watch Libya as it unfolds in the very near future and on and on after that. Obama messed around with a can of worms; he will reap what he sowed in buckets; the situation in Egypt will be worse for America; then there is Syria ….
At a time when the melting pot is boiling over in America? I shake my head.
September 9, 2011 at 4:33 pm |
Well said Freedom. The globalists are taking us all from the frying pan into the fire.
September 9, 2011 at 10:02 pm
Well, Lady BD, I do see that you address Freedom and I hope she does return. However, I firmly believe that what is about to, or what will happen, in America will depend on the Voter rather than Obama.
September 9, 2011 at 4:32 pm |
Way to go Sir Ike. I never put any of this together. Indeed you have given me food for thought.
September 9, 2011 at 10:01 pm |
Lady BD
There won’t be much of a Global World or certainly no New World Order as long as we have Russia and China [and a few others ready to block any nonsense like that]; indeed Obama won’t ever have his throne.
