Why and who is closing SASSA Bank in SA?

January 28, 2018

A letter circulated by Piketberg Municipality just before this weekend informed the poor that SASSA Bank is about to be closed.  I can only suppose it has happened elsewhere too because Municipal Authorities are responsible for the identification of and records of recipients of grants

It is with a little wry humor that I noted the date on the letter was 7th December 2017 but only reached our town on Friday 26th January to inform SASSA grant recipients that unless they supply details of their banking accounts where future SASSA grants can be deposited they will no longer receive their grants.  Don’t they understand that a SASSA recipient cannot afford a banking account, even if there was a bank in town, which is not the case in hundreds of small communities in small towns all across the country?

We can talk about this for months but everyone knows who is behind this.

JULIUS MALEMA, THIS IS YOUR TIME.  SPEAK OUT, RAISE HELL, LET THEM HAVE IT BETWEEN THE EYES; YOU WILL FIND ME RIGHT NEXT TO YOU.

Of Vodacom and Orwell 1984 to Animal Farm 2084

September 11, 2017

Much has been said about Big Brother of 1984 but the People never understood and still don’t because the Machine took over.

The People were given cell phones thus creating the massive fences surrounding the cities where all the People were herded in.  Big Brother said “OK, now you all have cell phones and should be happy.”

So, all the Animal species were set free; they graze and flourish, moving freely but gaze in wonder at these strange creatures behind the barbed wire fences.  There is no escape.

Vodacom got what they wanted; all animal life got their freedom to roam and multiply and the People have cell phones.

The Machine is in charge.  To understand this, read Steinbeck in Grapes of Wrath and follow that up with The Winter of our Discontent.

Thus we will get to 2084; life is great and everyone will have the choice of two cell phones for the parents; all the kiddies will have tablets and unlimited access to Cyber Space.

Reality?  What the heck do you want to talk about reality?  Virtual reality is so much easier; you have no responsibility and you do not have to think; the Machine does all the thinking for you.

Life has never been as good; why, oh me why did we wait so long to get here?

Hey, stop asking questions about poverty!  There will be no poor; press the cellphone button and the machine will bring you all the food you can eat.  Just think about what is going to be in the cinema tonight; press the button and you will have it.

We will all be equal and FREE AT LAST, courtesy of the Machine.

Exits 47 to 74 on the Journey of Life

July 27, 2014

Life is a journey; you all know I have said that many times.

In the process we have discussed rest areas, road crossings, congested areas and many deviations where we have to sit down and think about the roads ahead.

In just recent times I wrote about age 40 and what that means; today I want to stop just briefly at Exit number 47. You will recall from my Post about 40 that I described the period from 40 to 55 as the most beautiful in human life.

Well, age 47 has two unique points that you don’t find in any other year. You have been well on the adult road section now; there may be young ones of 15 to 21 calling you Dad or Mom but oh blessed you are if you still have your Dad and Mom. They would probably be over 70 now and if you are extremely fortunate they may be 74 in your 47th year.

Our dad crossed the river in the year I turned 27 and I have missed him more in recent times than ever before. I remember that we found love rather late and had but a few years to make the most of it before he was called away.

Now I am almost there; just one more week from today. The unique thing about 47 is that you can turn the two figures around and presto; you have 74. That’s my marker; to make 74 and when I get there I shall exit the highway and make my way down to the river.

Rivers have been my great joy in life. Never been one for the oceans or the skies I did enjoy life in the high mountains. There is nothing more beautiful in nature than a gushing clean clear mountain stream tumbling down to the valley below from where it will eventually find its own way to the seas.

I have chosen exit 74 to leave the highway and the Interstates. Of course, being healthy except for the eye I could come up from the river and visit the cities again but I won’t. That’s now for the young ones of 17 and 18, and the poor 37 year olds who must make a living in that jungle.

From next week Sunday August 3rd in the year 2014 of our Lord I will hug the riverside until I find a good crossing to take me to Dad and my two brothers. I know they are missing me and will be waiting there for me. I loved them so much and still do; it will be a joy never having to leave each other again.

I shall be hugging the riverside from now on and wait for my call from the other side. Bless you all.
